Two loves

Two loves of the day....
Magnolia tree in full bloom around the corner & a Lenny's Italian Hoagie split with the boys. Yum.

Rhythms

My day was spent
Learning the essential rhythms of the heart
Where lub dub becomes dub dub
& so forth
Which is exactly what Nate sounds like when he calls Dove.
"Dub....Dubby!"
Which in all it's essence makes my heart all a flutter.
Ah, synchronicity.

Launch

I think my new favorite room at the Please Touch Museum is the Rocket Room. Not only do the children get to build foam rockets, they can also launch them into the air, inside, with a nifty launch machine that makes space age sounds. It also photographs so well.

for Dovey

Inspired by Sleepytime Girl, I made up this blanket for Ophelia. I have been wanting to make something for her & was reminded of the little book I made for Nate. Not having much time I whipped up this little tag blanket. I wanted to add a personal touch to that sweet yellow polka dot cotton. It looked like a nice canvas for embroidery. I thought that a Dove was in order.
I think she likes it.....

Although I think she likes her brother more. He was the wizard behind the curtain, who got her to smile during these photos.

finished business

In my thrifting travels I find lots of unfinished projects.* Cushions, quilts, cross stitch. I always ponder over them, whether or not to complete them for my own home, or will they just sit unfinished, waiting for me to find the time...
This above was unfinished crewel work cushion. When I picked it up 4 years ago, it was almost finished....I think the frog was the only piece left incomplete and than sewing the cushion and attaching the trim. Yet, it still took me that long to finish this project up! & in all honesty, it may have taken me all of two hours of work to complete. So here is someone else's unfinished business looking so nice on the couch. Its for Milo, who long ago asked me for it....Next up, something for Nate & Ophelia.

*(As I begin to clear out the studio, many of these have emerged & if your so inclined, leave a comment & I will get one to you !)

a neighborhood walk, just before sunset.
